Description | Oxantel Pamoate (Oxantel embonate) is used as an Antinematodal agent. |
In vivo | The efficacy of the veterinary drug Oxantel pamoate against Trichuris muris, Ancylostoma ceylanicum, and Necator americanus was evaluated, revealing an ED50s of 4.7 mg/kg for T. muris in mice. When combined with pyrantel pamoate, Oxantel pamoate showed an antagonistic interaction (CI=2.53). Similarly, combinations with Levamisole, Albendazole, or Ivermectin, based on their ED50s, also demonstrated antagonistic effects (CIs of 1.27, 1.90, and 1.27, respectively). Conversely, a combination with mebendazole exhibited a highly synergistic effect (CI=0.15) against T. muris infection. At a dosage of 10 mg/kg, Oxantel pamoate was ineffective against A. ceylanicum and N. americanus[1]. |
