Biological Information | Measured by its ability to reverse the inhibition of DEVD-AFC cleavage activity in cell extracts activated by addition of cytochrome c and dATP. The IC50 for this effect is typically 0.6-3.0 μM. |
Description | BIRC7, a new member of inhibitor of the apoptosis protein family, is expressed in fetal tissues and most solid tumors in humans. BIRC7/livin expression is a novel prognostic marker in adult acute leukemia. Livin/BIRC7 is a member of the inhibitors of apoptosis proteins family, which are involved in tumor development through the inhibition of caspases. Livin/BIRC7 is specifically over-expressed in ACC, suggesting that it might be involved in adrenocortical tumorigenesis and represent a new molecular marker of malignancy. |
