BMP Agonist 1 (compound 2 b) is a small-molecule stimulator of bone morphogenic protein (BMP) signaling, crucial for the differentiation of C2C12 cells. It acts by inhibiting GSK3β and enhancing β-catenin signaling, thereby synergistically modulating Id2 and Id3 expression. This compound is employed in skeletal disease and defect research [1].

In vitro | BMP agonist 1 at concentrations of 0.01-10 μM for 24 hours reduced proliferation in C2C12 cells [1]. Exposing C2C12 cells to 0.5-1 μM of BMP agonist 1 for 2 hours inhibited GSK3β and increased β-catenin signaling expression, while coordinately modulating the expression of Id2 and Id3 [1]. Furthermore, BMP agonist 1 at 0.01-10 μM synergistically enhanced osteogenic differentiation (Alp activity) in C2C12 cells when used in conjunction with Chromenone 1 at 0.5−1 μM [1]. |
