Research Background
CXCR6, the receptor for CXCL16, is expressed on multiple cell types and can be a coreceptor for human immunodeficiency virus 1. Chemokine (C-X-C motif) receptor 6 (CXCR6) is up-regulated in many malignancies, indicating that CXCR6 plays an important role in tumor progression. CXCR6 enhances OS cell proliferation and invasion through the Akt pathway. The CXC-chemokine receptor 6 (CXCR6) is a class A GTP-binding protein-coupled receptor (GPCRs) that mediates adhesion of leukocytes by interacting with the transmembrane cell surface-expressed chemokine ligand 16 (CXCL16), and also regulates leukocyte migration by interacting with the soluble shed variant of CXCL16.
