Description
RPH-2823, a basic amphotericin analog, is diuretic, natriuretic, and potassium-preserving, inducing a dose-dependent decrease in SCC and an increase in trans-epithelial resistance.
In vitro
Interacting with the Na+ channel or a regulator site within the apical membrane, RPH-2823 influences transepithelial Na+ transport[2].
In vivo
Avoiding the kaliuresis of 25 mumol/kg furosemide in male Wistar rats, RPH 2823 (2.5 mumol/kg) demonstrates its efficacy. RPH 2823 (1 mg/kg and 5 mg/kg, i.v.) exhibits a terminal elimination half-life of 3 h, with approximately 47% of the administered dose being excreted unchanged in the urine[1].
