Description
(±)-Pantothenic acid ((±)-Pantothenate), a B-vitamin, is crucial for coenzyme A (CoA) biosynthesis in mammalian cells and protects against valproic acid (VPA)-induced neural tube defects (NTD) in CD-1 mice [1].
In vivo
"(±)-Pantothenic acid (3 × 200 mg/kg; IP, single dosage) prevents the reduction in c-Myb and Pim-1 protein levels caused by VPA and lowers the occurrence of neural tube defects (NTDs) to 6.8% in VPA-exposed CD-1 mice, compared to a 23.6% incidence rate in the control group [1]."
