It can inhibit muscarinic actions of acetylcholine at postganglionic parasympathetic neuroeffector sites. It is used for the treatment of peptic ulcer disease and also to help relieve cramps or stomach spasms or abdominal due to colicky abdominal diverticulitis, pain, and irritable bowel syndrome.
