In vitro
Ebselen derivative 1 (Compound 19) (100 μM) significantly reduced cisplatin-induced apoptosis and ferroptosis in hair cells and alleviated the surge of oxidative stress triggered by cisplatin throughout the cochlea [1].
In vivo
Ebselen derivative 1 (Compound 19) administered orally at 80 mg/kg once daily for one week in C57BL/6 mice exhibits hearing protective effects and mitigates hair cell loss induced by cisplatin (5 mg/kg; intraperitoneally administered on the third and seventh days of Ebselen derivative 1 treatment) [1].
