Description | Miravirsen (SPC-3649), a β-d-oxy-locked nucleic acid-modified phosphorothioate antisense oligonucleotide, inhibit the biogenesis of miR-122 . Miravirsen (SPC-3649) is used in the study for HCV infections. |
In vitro | Miravirsen functions primarily by hybridizing with mature miR-122, thereby preventing its interaction with HCV RNA; this compound targets a sequence also found in pri- and pre-miR-122[1]. It attaches to the stem-loop structure of pri- and pre-miR-122 with high specificity (nanomolar affinity), inhibiting the miR-122 precursors' processing by both Dicer and Drosha[1]. |
