Description
Waltonitone is a natural ursane-type pentacyclic triterpene isolated from Gentian waltonii Burkill.
In vitro
In BEL-7402 cells,waltonitone (10 μM, 25 μM; for 48 hours) results in an increment of sub-G1 population . Waltonitone (25 μM; for 48 hours) induces BEL-7402 cells apoptosis. In BEL-7402 cells, Waltonitone (25 μM; for 48 hours) can effectively activate caspase-3 .
In vivo
In male athymic mice (BALB/c nu/nu), Waltonitone administered intravenously (i.v.; 20 mg/kg or 50 mg/kg) at intervals of every other day for a duration of 16 days, effectively inhibits BEL-7402 tumor growth in vivo.
