Description
(R)-(+)-Dimethindene maleate is an orally active H1-receptor blocker.
In vitro
(R)-(+)-Dimethindene maleate exhibits a membrane-stabilizing effect [1].
In vivo
(R)-(+)-Dimethindene maleate, administered orally at 10 mL/kg once to male guinea pigs, exhibited antihistaminic properties. The effective dose (ED50) for preventing lethal histamine shock was 2.73 mg/kg when given one hour prior to histamine injection. The oral anti-anaphylactic ED50 value exceeded 31.6 mg/kg, and the oral lethal dose (LD50) was identified as 988 mg/kg.
