Description
Bimagrumab (BYM338) is a human monoclonal antibody that binds to the activin type II receptor. Bimagrumab can be used to study diabetes and obesity.
In vitro
b>METHODS: Bimagrumab (Anti-ACVR2B Reference Antibody) (1 pM-1 μM) was used to treat HEK293 cells and its potency in inhibiting ActRII ligand signaling was evaluated in a Smad2/3 CAGA-luciferase reporter assay.
RESULTS: Bimagrumab (Anti-ACVR2B Reference Antibody) showed similar dose-dependent inhibition of activin A-induced luciferase with an IC50 value of 343 ± 97 pM. [1]
In vivo
b>METHODS: Bimagrumab (Anti-ACVR2B Reference Antibody) (6, 20 mg/kg, subcutaneous injection) was used to treat mice and body weight was measured weekly to study its use in naive mice.
RESULTS: Bimagrumab promoted weight gain and skeletal muscle hypertrophy in all examined mouse muscles, including slow, fast, and mixed muscles. [1]
