Description | Etersalate inhibits platelet function. It also reduces thromboxane A2 (TXA2) levels. |
In vitro | Etersalate, at lower doses, both inhibits platelet function and reduces thromboxane A2 (TXA2) levels, while simultaneously stimulating prostaglandin I2 (PGI2) generation in aortic rings from rats treated with plasma from Etersalate-administered donors. Blood coagulation metrics remain unaffected. The study explores Etersalate's ex vivo antiplatelet effects and its influence on serum TXA2 levels and PGI2 production in human volunteers across two dosages. Distinctively, Etersalate impacts platelet arachidonate metabolism through a mechanism separate from the cyclooxygenase pathway. |
