Description
Farnesyl Pyrophosphate ammonium (Farnesyl diphosphate ammonium) is a metabolic intermediate of the MVA pathway that acts as a newly identified danger signal to trigger acute cell death and induce neuronal loss in stroke.
In vitro
METHODS: B cell line A20 cells, mouse mastocytoma cell line P815, Jurkat T cell line, primary splenocytes, and primary thymocytes were treated with farnesyl pyrophosphate (15 μg/mL and 30 μg/mL) and the nuclear and plasma membranes were stained to capture morphological changes after FPP treatment by confocal microscopy.
RESULTS: Within 5 minutes of adding farnesyl pyrophosphate, P815 cells began to show cytoplasmic swelling that increased over time until the plasma membrane eventually ruptured. [1]
