In vitro
APOBEC3G (A3G), a host cytidine deaminase, inhibits HIV-1 replication through its antiviral activity. Nonetheless, HIV-1 circumvents this defense by exploiting the cellular ubiquitin/proteasome degradation pathway [1]. HIV-1 inhibitor-47 targets the APOBEC3G-apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme catalytic subunit 3G (human), disrupting the HIV-1 Vif-APOBEC3G interaction [2].
