Description
Hydrocortisone cypionate is a corticosteroid ester and synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid.
In vitro
Hydrocortisone treatment of dendritic cells (DCs) not only inhibits the production of IFN-γ but also prompts a rise in IL-4 release without affecting IL-5 levels. It mitigates postischemic oxidative stress, reduces perfusion pressure, and lowers transudate formation while preventing the postischemic release of syndecan-1, heparan sulfate, hyaluronan, and histamine from resident mast cells. At a concentration of 50 nM, hydrocortisone displays a dose-dependent reduction in GR transcript in hCMEC/D3 cells. Enhancing serum-reduced cell differentiation media with hydrocortisone significantly boosts the transendothelial electrical resistance (TER) across the hCMEC/D3 monolayer. Additionally, hydrocortisone-treated DCs exhibit suppressed expression of MHC II molecules, CD86, CD83, and a marked decrease in IL-12 secretion, showcasing its broad immunomodulatory effects.
