Description | Hydroxystilbamidine bis(methanesulfonate) is a dye capable of binding to both DNA and RNA. It also is a potent inhibitor of cellular ribonucleases. |
In vitro | The trypanocidal dye Hydroxystilbamidine bis(methanesulfonate) facilitates mRNA recovery following polysome release with Nonidet P-40 (NP-40), as analyzed by sucrose gradient distribution of detergent-lysed postnuclear supernates [1]. |
In vivo | Hydroxystilbamidine bis(methanesulfonate) effectively inhibits the plaque-forming cell (PFC) response when administered prior to sheep erythrocytes (SRBC) stimulation. It reduces the plaque formation in treated mice, leading to a significant decrease in PFC levels. However, the suppressive effect diminishes over time, with PFC counts in both Hydroxystilbamidine bis(methanesulfonate)-treated and control groups reverting to baseline levels by day 14 [2]. |
