Description
Monoamine Oxidase B inhibitor 1 is a potent, reversible, orally active, and selective monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B) inhibitor (IC50 = 0.02 nM) capable of crossing the blood-brain barrier (BBB). It exhibits antioxidant and anti-neuroinflammatory activities and can be used in the study of Parkinson's disease[1].
In vitro
In cellular assays, the Monoamine Oxidase B inhibitor 1 (compound 14a; 0.5-10.0 μM) was shown to markedly reduce the levels of NO and TNF-α in LPS-induced BV-2 cells [1].
In vivo
In both acute and subacute MPTP-induced Parkinson’s disease mouse models, Monoamine Oxidase B Inhibitor 1 (compound 14a; 6-37.4 mg/kg; orally administered) significantly ameliorated most behavioral disorders, restored dopamine levels and reduced MDA levels in the striatum of mice [1].
