| In vitro | Angiopoietin-1, a ligand for the endothelium-specific receptor tyrosine kinase TIE-2, represents a novel angiogenic factor [1]. Inhibiting TIE-2 could disrupt the remodeling and maturation of new vasculature that angiogenesis initiates. Similarly, targeting the kinase domain binding site of VEGFR-2 to block tyrosine residue phosphorylation could hinder the onset of angiogenesis. |
