UR778Br targets the GTPase-activating protein-related domain (GRD domain) of the IQGAP1 protein. This compound inhibits the proliferation of human acute myeloid leukemia (AML) by arresting the cell cycle during the G2/M phase and inducing apoptosis (cell death). UR778Br suppresses colony formation in primary cells and AML cells without significant effects on normal bone marrow cells.
