Description
Insulin sensitizer C59 is an orally available insulin sensitizer that improves glucose uptake and can be used to study insulin-stimulated GLUT4 translocation.
In vivo
Lean mice were injected with either vehicle or Insulin sensitizer C59 before performing IPGTT. Like C3, Insulin sensitizer C59 injection resulted in improved glucose tolerance compared to vehicle. Oral administration of Insulin sensitizer C59 to DIO mice by providing them with HFD supplemented with Insulin sensitizer C59 for 2 weeks also resulted in significantly improved glucose tolerance, thus demonstrating oral availability of the compound. Injection of Insulin sensitizer C59 did not result in a lower body weight compared to control, suggesting that the improved glucose tolerance is not due to decreased weight gain. [1]
