Description | Ioxilan (Imagenil) is a tri-iodinated X-ray contrast agent used in computer tomography (CECT) imaging as a biological membrane transparency agent. |
In vitro | Ioxilan introduces dimethylene as a hydrophobic region masked by hydrophilic hydroxyl, which can reduce osmotic pressure without adversely affecting biological tolerance, and can improve the safety and tolerance of X-ray contrast agents. [2] |
In vivo | Ioxilan increased the excretion of albumin, LDH and GGT in rats, resulting in temporary glomerular and tubular dysfunction in rats, but the effect was less than that of diatrizoate and iohexol. [1] |
