Description | TfR-T12 is a transferrin receptor (TfR) binding peptide that can penetrate the blood-brain barrier (BBB), exhibiting a high binding affinity within the nanomolar (nM) range. |
In vitro | TfR-T12, a synthetic peptide derived through phage display, specifically attaches to the transferrin receptor (TfR) at a distinct binding site from transferrin. This interaction facilitates the internalization of this complex into cells expressing TfR[1]. Furthermore, TfR-T12 can undergo chemical conjugation with a pegylated lipid, identified as 3-(N-succinimidyloxyglutaryl)aminopropyl-polyethyleneglycol(2000)-carbamyl distearoyl phosphatidylethanolamine (NHS-PEG2000-DSPE). This conjugation process enables the use of TfR-T12 in the development of multifunctional lipid vesicles[2], serving as a versatile tool in targeting TfR-expressing cells. |
