Description | Anthraflavic acid (2,6-Dihydroxyanthraquinone), a flavonoid, is a potent IQ mutagenicity and cytochrome P-448 inhibitor. |
In vitro | Anthraflavic acid is a potent inhibitor of IQ mutagenicity by virtue of its ability to inhibit both its microsomal and cytosolic activation pathways. |
Kinase Assay | The metabolic activation of IQ to mutagens was determined using the Ames mutagenicity test ?and employing Salmonella lyphimurium strain TA98 ?and 10% hepatic preparations as activation systems.?IQ and anthraflavic acid were dissolved in DMSO so that the solvent levels never exceeded 100 μl?per phile.?In experiments where microsomes onl~ were used as the activation system, $9 mix was supplemented with 1 unit/plate of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase.?Pre-incubation conditions are described in the appropriate legends. |
