Description
Thermolysin is an extracellular metalloendopeptidase from Bacillus thermolysinophilus that selectively catalyzes short peptides.
In vivo
In spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR), thermolysin (50 mg/kg; oral administration (p.o.), once) was able to lower systolic blood pressure in SHR rats, with a maximal reduction of 22 mmHg in systolic blood pressure observed 6 hours after administration[4].
