Description | Zoxazolamine (NSC-24995) is a uricosuric and muscle relaxant. Zoxazolamine acts centrally as a muscle relaxant, but the mechanism of its action is not understood. |
In vivo | Zoxazolamine, a biologically active 2-amino-2-oxazole compound, functions as a central muscle relaxant by diminishing the activity between central neurons. It is not an anxiolytic; instead, it reduces dopaminergic turnover and induces a pacemaker-like discharge pattern in dopaminergic neurons. Zoxazolamine is also utilized in assessing hepatic cytochrome P-450 activity. |
