gp91 ds-tat is a NADPH oxidase (NOX2) inhibitor that reduces NOX2 expression.
In vitro
Using confocal microscopy, Hcy induced formation of NLRP3 inflammasomes as indicated by increased colocalization of inflammasome markers, NLRP3 with ASC, and NLRP3 with caspase-1. Pretreatment with the ROS scavenger, catalase (50 U/ml), or gp91 ds-tat peptide blocked this increase. [1]
