Description
I2906 has antimicrobial activity and inhibits Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
In vitro
I2906 exhibits excellent antimycobacterial activity and low cytotoxicity. [1]
In vivo
In a mouse model of Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv infection, the bacterial load in the lungs and spleens of mice was significantly reduced after 4 weeks of I2906 treatment compared to untreated controls. In addition, after extending I2906 treatment to 8 weeks, the colony-forming unit counts in the lungs of mice were significantly lower than those of mice treated with isoniazid. Further studies showed that I2906 treatment significantly improved the survival rate of the mice. [1]
