Description
Romosozumab (AMG-785) is a humanized monoclonal antibody that binds and inhibits sclerostin, increasing bone formation and decreasing bone resorption.Romosozumab is used in the study of postmenopausal osteoporosis.
In vivo
Romosozumab (30 mg/kg twice weekly for 10 weeks) induces the transformation of bone trabecular rod-like structures to plate-like structures in cynomolgus monkeys. [1]
In mature cynomolgus monkeys undergoing ovariectomy for 4 months, Romosozumab (3 mg/kg and 30 mg/kg once weekly for 6 or 12 months) was able to enhance bone mass, optimize bone structure, and improve bone strength while maintaining bone quality. [2]
