In vitro
Antitumor agent-115 (SS-12) primarily induces apoptosis in 4T1 cells by causing G0/G1 phase cell cycle arrest at 1.25 μM, 10 μM, and 40 μM concentrations over 24 hours [1]. At higher concentrations (15 μM, 30 μM, and 60 μM) for the same duration, it inhibits migration and invasion of 4T1 cells. Furthermore, at 10 μM over 24 hours, it induces apoptosis via the mitochondrial pathway [1].
In vivo
Antitumor agent-115 (SS-12) exhibits high bioavailability in rats at a dose of 10 mg stachydrine/kg equivalent (200 μL, oral administration) and demonstrates antitumor activity in a mouse breast cancer model at a dosage of 0.1 mL/10 g (oral administration), improving the morphological structure of the spleen in these mice [1].
