Description
CX 717 is a positive allosteric modulator of AMPA receptor which has an antidepressant-like effect. CX 717 can be used for the research of adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) [1] [2].
In vivo
CX 717 (CX717; 20 mg/kg) demonstrates a quick (30 min) yet brief (up to 24 h) antidepressant-like response in the forced swim test. Additionally, it induces a rapid increase in brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) within 1 hour and maintains elevated levels of p11 for up to 6 hours [2]. When infused intra-cortically at 85 mM, CX 717 escalates the efflux of noradrenaline, dopamine, and serotonin, without affecting glutamate levels [2]. The study utilized male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 280-350 g [2], administered a dosage of 20 mg/kg (at 1 mL/kg) via intraperitoneal injection. The outcomes showed that CX 717, at a dosage of 20 mg/kg delivered intraperitoneally, provoked antidepressant-like effects without modifying the extracellular concentrations of noradrenaline (NA), dopamine (DA), serotonin (5-HT), and glutamate in the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC).
