Description | Liquidambaric lactone, a compound isolated from Euonymus grandiflorus Wall, may exhibit inhibitory activity against HIV-1 reverse transcriptase. |
In vitro | Among the 25 fractions obtained from the alcohol extractive of the roots of Lantana camara L.(Verbenaceae) by silica gel column chromatography, three fractions demonstrated inhibitory HIV-1 reverse transcriptase activity.Furthermore, six pentacyclic triterpenes were isolated by reduced pressure column chromatography and identified as oleanonic acid(1),Liquidambaric lactone(2),lantadene A(3),lantadene B(4),oleanolic acid(5),and 25-hydroxy-oleanolic acid(6) by spectral analysis. Compounds 2 and 6 were reported firstly in the plants of Verbenaceae family, and the structure of 6 was confirmed firstly by X-ray crystallography. |
