Description
Lunasin, a bioactive peptide derived from soybean, exhibits antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and anti-aging properties. It operates through an epigenetic mechanism linked to histone acetylation and has the ability to penetrate cells and impede the formation of oncospheres in cancer cells [1].
In vitro
Lunasin is composed of four sections, including a tail with aspartic acid (D) and an RGD motif. This RGD sequence is critical for Lunasin's internalization into cells and its anti-transformative functions, as well as its association with the inhibition of methionine adenosyltransferase formation in the A375 ALDHhigh melanoma cell line induced by Lunasin [1].
