In vitro
In mice, the LD50 (Lethal Dose 50%) of Hordenine is 113.5 mg/kg.
In vivo
Hordenine exhibits antimicrobial and antibacterial activities. It effectively inhibits excessive pigmentation by suppressing the production of cAMP, which is involved in the expression of proteins related to melanogenesis.
