Description
Propiomazine is an orally active antihistamine with sedative properties, utilized in insomnia research [1] [2].
In vivo
Propiomazine, when administered nasally at a dose of 0.2 mg/kg in rats, is swiftly absorbed and subsequently exhibits a rapid decrease in plasma concentrations [3]. Furthermore, at a dosage of 25 mg/kg intraperitoneally (i.p.) given at 0 and 3 hours post-challenge, it effectively shields rats from CCl4-induced liver damage [4]. Additionally, intravenous (i.v.) administration of Propiomazine in doses ranging from 0.31 to 20 mg/kg elevates plasma prolactin levels in rats [5].
