MMPSI is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of caspase 3 and caspase 7, with an IC50 of 1.7 μM for human caspase-3. It effectively reduces ischemia-reperfusion-induced infarct size in isolated rabbit hearts, as well as apoptosis in both the ischemic myocardium and isolated cardiomyocytes. MMPSI is a valuable tool for cardioprotection research[1].
