Cefonicid sodium is a broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall formation.
In vitro
Cefonicid sodium binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) of Escherichia coli K-12 (strain KN-126), with PBP 1a having a higher affinity for cefonicid sodium, but PBP 3 being the major inhibitory site. [1]
