In male Swiss-Webster mice infected with bacteria, cephalexin monohydrate (0-50 mg/kg; oral administration; for 3.5 hours) exhibited antibacterial activity against Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, and several gram-negative species[2].
