Benzydamine hydrochloride (AF864), a locally-acting nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, has local anaesthetic and analgesic properties.
In vivo
Benzydamine significantly lower the incidence of postoperative sore throat (POST). At 6 hours after extubation, the incidence of POST is 17.0%. Spraying benzydamine hydrochloride on the ETT cuff is a simple and effective method to reduce the incidence and severity of POST. [2]
