Description
Tolazoline hydrochloride (NSC35110 (hydrochloride)) is a non-selective competitive α-adrenergic receptor antagonist used in treatment of persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn.
In vivo
In cases of persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN), Tolazoline acts as a pulmonary vasodilator, effectively reducing pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) and pulmonary arterial pressure. Additionally, within the human radial artery, Tolazoline blocks α-adrenergic activity, significantly counteracting vascular spasms.
