In vitro
Xylometazoline is an α-adrenoceptor agonist commonly used as nasal decongestant, exhibits highest potency at α2B-adrenoceptor subtype with EC50 of 99 μM. Xylometazoline binds at adrenoceptor subtypeα1A, α1B, α1D, α2A, α2B, α2C with IC50 of 0.08, 0.56, 0.45, 0.98, 1.8, 0.22 μM, repectively. [1]
