Alx40-4C trifluoroacetate is a chemokine receptor (CXCR4) inhibitor, which inhibits the binding of sdf-1 to CXCR4.Alx40-4ctrifluoroacetate was also an APJ receptor antagonist with an IC50 value of 2.9 M.

ALX 40-4C acetate is a CXCR4 inhibitor of the chemokine receptor (Ki = 1 μM) and suppresses the replication of X4 strains of HIV-1. ALX 40-4C acetate is an antagonist of the APJ receptor (IC50 = 2.9 μM).

β-Defensin-4 is a peptide with antimicrobial properties that protects the skin and mucosal membranes of the respiratory, genitourinary, and gastrointestinal tracts. It induces migration of monocytes in vitro when used at a concentration of 10 nM but does not affect migration of neutrophils and eosinophils. β-Defensin-4 (30 μg/ml) stimulates gene expression and production of IL-6, IL-10, CXCL10, CCL2, MIP-3α, and RANTES by keratinocytes.
