Zeatin is a cytokinin derived from adenine. Zeatin was discovered in immature corn kernels from the genus Zea. It promotes growth of lateral buds and when sprayed on meristems stimulates cell division to produce bushier plants.

Cis-Zeatin, a cytokinin plant growth regulator and an isomer of trans-zeatin, promotes callus growth in isolated N. tabacum callus tissue at concentrations between 0.1 and 1 µM.

6-Benzylaminopurine (6-BAP), benzyl adenine or BAP is a first-generation synthetic cytokinin that elicits plant growth and development responses, setting blossoms and stimulating fruit richness by stimulating cell division. It is an inhibitor of respiratory kinase in plants, and increases post-harvest life of green vegetables.

Kinetin (N6-Furfuryladenine), a type of cytokinin, has plant growth regulation effects.

Forchlorfenuron (Forchlorfenuron (KT-30, CPPU)) is plant growth regulator and cytokinin; can be used to increase fruit size of fruits.

Benzylurea (AI3-61350) competitively inhibits dehydrogenase/cytokinin oxidase.
