Juglandaceae

Juglandaceae is a plant family known as the walnut family, containing 7–10 genera and 50 species. All parts of a walnut tree is known to be used in traditional medicine including the roots and leaves for treating diabetes, rheumatism, fever and skin diseases and haemorrhoids. Walnut oil and other products are also common ingredients of dry skin creams, anti-wrinkle and anti-ageing products formulations. Walnuts are an admirable source of nutrients and phytochemicals which are of great benefit for human health, such as polyphenols, proteins, fibers, sterols, and essential fatty acids. Considering only the levels of phenolic antioxidants, walnut is the most enriched among nut species.
