DNA Fragmentation Factor Subunit Alpha (DFFA). DFFA exists as a heterodimer (DFF) with DFFB. DFF is activated once DFFA is cleaved by Caspase-3. The cleaved fragments of DFFA detach from DFFB (the active component of DFF), which in turn triggers DNA fragmentation as well as chromatin condensation during apoptosis. A reduced level of DFFA detected in ovarian endometriosis may be a part of an apoptosis-resistant mechanism enhancing the disease progression.

β-Defensin 4A is a membrane-active cationic peptide that functions in inflammation and innate immune responses. There are at least 30 β-Defensins, which are distinguished from α-Defensins by the connectivity pattern of their three intermolecular disulfide bonds. Members of the Defensin family are highly similar in protein sequence. This gene encodes Defensin, DEFB4;, which has broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity and may play an important role in innate epithelial defense. They are highly expressed in skin and tonsils, and to a lesser extent in trachea, uterus, kidney, thymus, adenoid, pharynx and tongue. β-Defensin 4A has low expression in salivary gland, bone marrow, colon, stomach, polyp and larynx. No expression in small intestine. The 45 amino acid mature human BD3 shares 38% and 33% amino acid sequence identity with mouse and rat BD3, respectively.

Casein kinase I isoform alpha, also known as CKI-alpha, CK1 and CSNK1A1, is a cytoplasm protein which belongs to theprotein kinase superfamily, CK1 Ser/Thr protein kinase family and casein kinase I subfamily. Casein kinases are operationally defined by their preferential utilization of acidic proteins such as caseins as substrates. High expression of CSNK2A1, or concomitantly high expression of CSNK2A1, are independent prognostic factors of poor survival in NSCLC patients. CSNK2A1 are useful prognosis markers in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients after complete resection, independent of lymph node metastasis status. Tyrosine kinase with immunoglobulin-like and EGF-like domains 1 also known as Tie1 is an angiopoietin receptor and is an orphan receptor tyrosine kinase that is expressed almost exclusively in endothelial cells and that is required for normal embryonic vascular development. The receptor tyrosine kinase Tie1 is expressed primarily in vascular endothelial cells. The receptor has also been detected in epithelial tumours in breast, thyroid and gastric cancers and in tumour cell lines where it appears as a 45 kDa truncated receptor fragment. Tie1 promotes endothelial cell survival, but other studies have suggested that the Tie1 kinase has little to no activity. Embryos deficient in Tie1 failed to establish structural integrity of vascular endothelial cells, resulting in oedema and subsequently localized haemorrhage. Angiopoietin-like 7 (ANGPTL7) is a secreted glycoprotein that is structurally related to the angiopoietins. Members of this protein family contain an N-terminal coiled coil domain and a C-terminal fibrinogen-like domain. ANGPTL7 shares 89% aa sequence identity with mouse and rat ANGPTL7. It is secreted as a 45-50kDa monomer that forms disulfide-linked homotrimers and tetramers via the coiled coil domain. ANGPTL7 is expressed in the corneal stroma, trabecular meshwork, and sclera and is elevated in glaucoma aqueous humor. Its production is up-regulated in trabecular meshwork cells by glucocorticoids and TGF-β and in cartilage by TNF-α. Overexpression of ANGPTL7 in trabecular meshwork cells inhibits the production of collagen and proteoglycans. Mouse interleukin-15 receptor subunit alpha, also known as Il15ra, is a high-affinity receptor for interleukin-15. Il15ra associates as a heterotrimer with the IL-2 receptor beta and gamma subunits (Common gamma chain, or gamma c) to initiate signal transduction. It can signal both in cis and trans where IL15R from one subset of cells presents IL15 to neighboring IL2RG-expressing cells. Il15ra is expressed in special cells including a wide variety of Tand B cells and non-lymphoid cells. Human Il15ra shares 45% amino acid sequence homology with the mouse form of the receptor.
