Valproic acid sodium salt
T16021069-66-5
Valproic acid sodium salt (Sodium Valproate) is the sodium salt form of valproic acid with anti-epileptic activity. Valproic acid sodium salt is converted into its active form, valproate ion, in blood. Although the mechanism of action remains to be elucidated, Valproic acid sodium salt increases concentrations of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain, probably due to inhibition of the enzymes responsible for the catabolism of GABA. This potentiates the synaptic actions of GABA. Valproic acid sodium salt may also affect potassium channels, thereby creating a direct membrane-stabilizing effect.

Niaprazine
T3694927367-90-4
Niaprazine is a histamine H1-receptor antagonist with marked sedative properties. Niaprazine has antihistamine and antiserotonin activities and can be used for sleep disorder research[1][2]. Niaprazine exhibits a low affinity for the vesicular monoamine transporter and for D2, α2, β, H1 and mAch receptors. Niaprazine, particularly the (+)stereoisomer, has a higher affinity for α1 (Ki = 77 nM) and 5-HT2 (Ki = 25 nM) binding sites, but is poorly recognized by 5-HT1A and 5-HT1B binding sites[2]. Niaprazine (60 mg/kg; i.p.; once) treatment increases rat brain 5-hydroxyindole acetic acid (5-HIAA) concentrations 30 min after treatment, and reduced them at 3-8 hr after treatment. Niaprazine also produces a short-lasting depletion of rat brain noradrenaline (NA) and dopamine (DA)[3]. Animal Model: Male Sprague-Dawley rats (150-200 g)[3] [1]. D Scherman, et al. Molecular pharmacology of niaprazine. Prog Neuropsychopharmacol Biol Psychiatry. 1988;12(6):989-1001. [2]. P G Rossi, et al. Niaprazine in the treatment of autistic disorder. Sulfatides (bovine) (sodium salt)
T35639
Sulfatides are endogenous sulfoglycolipids with various biological activities in the central and peripheral nervous systems, pancreas, and immune system. They are produced from the combination of ceramide and UDP-galactose in the endoplasmic reticulum followed by sulfation in the Golgi apparatus. The ceramide portion contains variable fatty acid chain lengths, which are tissue- and pathology-dependent. Sulfatides are primarily found in the myelin sheath of oligodendrocytes and Schwann cells, with smaller chain lengths predominant during development and longer chain lengths predominant in mature cells. They accumulate in the lysosome of patients with metachromatic leukodystrophy, a disorder characterized by arylsulfatase A deficiency. Sulfatides are also located in pancreatic β-cells and inhibit insulin release from isolated rat pancreatic islet cells, suggesting a potential role in diabetes. Sulfatides can induce inflammation in glia in vitro and certain sulfatides, such as C24:1 3'-sulfo-galactosylceramide, can induce an immune response in vitro in mouse splenocytes. Sulfatides (bovine) (sodium salt) is a mixture of isolated bovine sulfatides.

Lyso-Globotriaosylceramide (d18:1)
T37291126550-86-5
Lyso-globotriaosylceramide is a form of globotriaosylceramide that is lacking the fatty acyl group. It binds to Shiga toxin 1 (Stx1) in the presence of cholesterol and phosphatidylcholine but does not bind Stx2. It also reduces viability and aggregation of human neutrophils induced by phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate when used at concentrations of 50 and 1 μM, respectively. Lyso-globotriaosylceramide accumulates in the brain, heart, kidney, liver, lung, and spleen in a mouse model of Fabry disease, a lysosomal storage disorder characterized by a deficiency in the enzyme α-galactosidase A. It also accumulates in the urine, kidney, and plasma of patients with Fabry disease. Lyso-globotriaosylceramide levels decrease in response to administration of the α-galactosidase inhibitor 1-deoxygalactonojirimycin in a transgenic mouse model of Fabry disease. Decreases in plasma and urine concentrations of lyso-globotriaosylceramide have been used as a biomarker for efficacy of enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) and other therapies in the treatment of Fabry disease.
